To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 15.1–20 on January 21, In the year of our Lord 2015

The 12 disciples had been with Jesus long enough to know that He spoke of the spirit, both of man and of the Holy Spirit. Yet, they constantly understood things according to the flesh. One time they did not understand one of His parables, and after He asked them, “Are you also still without understanding?” He explained further,
“Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man” (Matthew 15.17–18).
Jesus came not for the flesh of man, but for the spirit of man. Therefore, His teachings addressed matters pertaining to the spirit. How do you understand His teachings? How do you look at life? Do you see life as He saw it?
