01.26.2015 New Testament: Matt 18.32–33
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 18.21–35 on January 26, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
Jesus told a parable of a man whom a king had forgiven of a great debt, but the forgiven man went out and did not show the same compassion toward others,
“Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’” (Matthew 18.32–33).
Someone has offended you. You have offended God. Of the two, which is the greater offense? Offenses against God far outweigh offenses against a human. Yet, God freely offers forgiveness, if we repent. Should we not show the same mercy toward those who sin against us?
