The Lord stayed with Israel all the way

Exodus Bible Background

01.27.2015 Old Testament: Exo 13.20–22

To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 13–15 on January 27, In the year of our Lord 2015

Israel living in the wilderness without crops and other means of support, needed to know that the Lord would be with them all the way through all the experiences ahead of them,

So they took their journey from Succoth and camped in Etham at the edge of the wilderness. And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people (Exodus 13.20–22).

They could see that the Lord stayed right with them, and He even made accommodations that they might be able to see His presence during the day and during the night.

Our Lord Jesus has promised that He will stay with us until the end (Matthew 28.20). Let us believe that promise just as much as if we saw a pillar of cloud or a pillar of fire.
