Be holy to God

Exodus Bible Background

01.30.2015 Old Testament: Exo 22.31

To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 22–24 on January 30, In the year of our Lord 2015

In the Law of Moses, the Lord gave Israel many laws. What purpose did those laws serve? Ultimately they all came down to this,

“And you shall be holy men to Me: you shall not eat meat torn by beasts in the field; you shall throw it to the dogs” (Exodus 22.31).

The Lord provided laws even for the food of the Israelites, because He wanted them to be holy to Him. While some of what the Lord requires of us differs from the Law of Moses, what He does ask of us still points us in the direction of being holy.
