01.31.2015 New Testament: Matt 21.15–17
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 21.1–22 on January 31, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
Jesus drove out of the temple the businesses that people had set up in it. Soon after that, He healed the blind and the lame. However, the chief priests and scribes did not rejoice,
But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read,
‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have perfected praise’?”Then He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and He lodged there (Matthew 21.15–17).
The chief priests and scribes did not like Jesus chasing the businesses out of the temple, and they did not like hearing the children call Jesus the Son of David, for that meant that Jesus is the Anointed One, the Messiah, the Christ, and the leaders had not accepted that reality, but rejected it.
Too bad most of those leaders never saw the truth, for they had no idea who walked among them. Likewise, do you know who lives in you?
