Consecration by fire

Leviticus Bible Background

02.09.2015 Old Testament: Lev 7.35–36

To read the Bible in a year, read Leviticus 7–9 on February 9, In the year of our Lord 2015

The Lord set aside Aaron and his sons to serve as high priests for the children of Israel, but this was no casual thing, for the Lord had Moses perform a special ceremony to induct Aaron, and then the Bible says,

This is the consecrated portion for Aaron and his sons, from the offerings made by fire to the Lord, on the day when Moses presented them to minister to the Lord as priests. The Lord commanded this to be given to them by the children of Israel, on the day that He anointed them, by a statute forever throughout their generations (Leviticus 7.35–36).

What a holy and special thing this was, and it set the stage for the induction of Jesus of Nazareth as the High Priest over His kingdom.
