02.14.2015 New Testament: Matt 27.39–40
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 27.32–66 on February 14, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
The Jews had heard Jesus say He could raise up the temple in three days, if they destroyed it. They thought of the building in Jerusalem. He meant His body. Later when they crucified Him, they brought this up,
And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross” (Matthew 27.39–40).
They thought that if He could rebuild the Jerusalem temple in three days, then He could also deliver Himself from the cross. The ignorance revealed in those few words astounds the mind. Do you think you are ignorant about anything concerning Jesus?
