Parents and a day of rest

Leviticus Bible Background

02.14.2015 Old Testament: Lev 19.3

To read the Bible in a year, read Leviticus 18–19 on February 14, In the year of our Lord 2015

Among the many things that the Lord told the children of Israel to do, was this,

“Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and keep My Sabbaths: I am the Lord your God” (Leviticus 19.3).

How the Israelites treated their parents and how they treated the day of worship, meant a lot to God.

He wants Christians to honor their parents also, and He wants Christians to assemble on the first day of the week to worship Him. Will we show Him that we reverence our parents who brought us into the world, and will we show Him that we reverence Him for giving us our parents?
