03.05.2015 New Testament: Mark 10.42–44
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 10.32–52 on March 5, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
James and John sought prominent positions in the Lord’s kingdom, wanting to sit on His right hand and on His left hand. That infuriated the ten other disciples, but watch what Jesus did and listen to what He said,
But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all” (Mark 10.42–44).
Jesus did not cast His disciples away, but drew them in, and gave them a valuable lesson, that greatness in His kingdom comes not with position and is not determined by those who serve you, but by your service to others.
How have you served people in the last 24 hours?
