03.13.2015 New Testament: Mark 14.37–38
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 14.26–50 on March 13, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
The hour of Jesus had finally arrived and so He went to pray, even as men headed His way to arrest Him, but His own disciples could only sleep,
Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Mark 14.37–38).
Jesus wanted His disciples to know what was about to happen, but the urging of the flesh overwhelmed them, and they fell asleep. Peter had spoken boldly that he would go with Jesus to the very end, yet, here Peter could not stay awake with and for Jesus.
