Cursing, confusion, and rebuke

Deuteronomy Bible Background

03.16.2015 Old Testament: Deu 28.20–23

To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 28 on March 16, In the year of our Lord 2015

By Don Ruhl

The Lord warned what He would do, if Israel disobeyed Him. He promised that they would suffer in all parts of life, including the following,

“The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me. The Lord will make the plague cling to you until He has consumed you from the land which you are going to possess. The Lord will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, with scorching, and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish. And your heavens which are over your head shall be bronze, and the earth which is under you shall be iron” (Deuteronomy 28.20–23).

Sure enough it happened just as the Lord had said. The Lord means what He says and says what He means. The Lord works the same way now. You can see nations today suffering as Israel did for the same reasons.
