03.20.2015 New Testament: Luke 1.70–75
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 1.57–80 on March 20, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
When Zacharias spoke after the birth of John, he magnified the Lord God of Israel, because He kept His word that He had spoken through the prophets,
“As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets,
Who have been since the world began,
That we should be saved from our enemies
And from the hand of all who hate us,
To perform the mercy promised to our fathers
And to remember His holy covenant,
The oath which He swore to our father Abraham:
To grant us that we,
Being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
Might serve Him without fear,
In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.”
(Luke 1.70–75)
From the beginning of the creation, the Lord had spoken through prophets that He would:
Save His people from their enemies
Perform the mercy promised to the fathers
Remember His holy covenant
Grant that His people might serve Him without fear
We have enemies, but they always eventually fall. We have sinned, but the Lord by His mercy has forgiven us. We now serve Him without fear of His rejection. Praise the Lord for His wonderful lovingkindness toward us!
