03.23.2015 New Testament: Luke 3.21–22
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 3 on March 23, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
John baptized Jesus. Then something wonderful happened,
When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased” (Luke 3.21–22).
As Jesus prayed after His baptism, the heaven opened, and John saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove upon Jesus. Then the Father spoke from heaven, giving His full approval and endorsement of Jesus of Nazareth as the Son of God.
From the moment of your baptism, begin a life of prayer, for the Bible says that those baptized in the name of Jesus shall receive the forgiveness of their sins, and the gift of the indwelling Spirit. We cannot see these things happening, but we know they happen, because the Bible says so. Therefore, pray often, and the Father in heaven will use you for wonderful things.
