Do you turn on a light only to cover it up completely? No, of course not, yet, the Lord has turned on our light and He intends to see all that is in our lives, even the secret parts of our lives,

“No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light. For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light. Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him” (Luke 8.16–18).

Even as we turn on a light to see, so the Lord will look into our lives. Also, we are what we are much by what we hear. We hear things, take them in, and make them part of our lives. Therefore, Jesus warned us to watch what we hear, or rather how we hear. We all hear things, even things that we do not want to hear, but the issue is, what do we do with what we have heard? It will eventually come to light.
