04.06.2015 New Testament: Luke 10.36–37
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 10.25–42 on April 6, In the year of our Lord 2015

A man wanted to know what he had to do to inherit eternal life. Jesus asked the man what the Bible said. The man quoted Scripture, that he must love God and one’s neighbor. However, the man did not want to show love to everyone. Therefore, he asked the Lord, “And who is my neighbor?”
Jesus then gave the Parable of the Good Samaritan, showing that a priest and a Levite ignored a mugging victim, but a Samaritan stopped and rendered help,
“So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise” (Luke 10.36–37).
Jesus showed that it is not so much who is my neighbor, but am I a neighbor? Are you a neighbor to those around you, regardless of who they are?
