Jesus liked to engage us in stories. What is it about stories, that we like to hear them? Luke wrote,

So He spoke this parable to them, saying… (Luke 15.3). 

Then Luke showed Jesus giving three parables, which was one of the most common ways he taught.

I like to hear a story. The narrator takes us on a journey, and not knowing the destination, or knowing the destination, but not knowing what we shall confront along the way, intrigues us. We’re hooked.

Jesus knew how to hook us, because He wanted us to understand the truth behind the story, leading to our salvation.
