Solomon dedicated the new temple with a magnificent and humble prayer. He called upon the Lord to remember what He had said to David, Solomon’s father,

“Therefore, Lord God of Israel, now keep what You promised Your servant David my father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man sit before Me on the throne of Israel, only if your sons take heed to their way, that they walk before Me as you have walked before Me’” (1 Kings 8.25).

Solomon walked in the ways of David at that time, so Solomon asked the Lord to bless him and Israel.

When you read the Book of Proverbs, you will find Solomon in the first nine chapters referring to his father often and what he taught Solomon. David taught Solomon the right thing and that established his throne.
