Did someone make a promise to you 20 years ago, and he forgot to keep it? Have you forgotten your word? We may forget our word, but the Lord never forgets what He said He would do. For example, after Joshua and Israel destroyed Jericho around 1405 BC, Joshua declared,
“Cursed be the man before the Lord who rises up and builds this city Jericho; he shall lay its foundation with his firstborn, and with his youngest he shall set up its gates” (Joshua 6.26).
Over 500 years later, someone rebuilt Jericho and suffered for it, just as the Lord through Joshua had said would happen,
In his days Hiel of Bethel built Jericho. He laid its foundation with Abiram his firstborn, and with his youngest son Segub he set up its gates, according to the word of the Lord, which He had spoken through Joshua the son of Nun (1 Kings 16.34).
The Lord will never forget His word. He does and will keep all the promises He has made. Now we need to make sure that we walk in His truth that we may benefit from His promises of reward.
