Jesus lived His life for the will of God, and that would include giving due attention to God’s house, the temple in Jerusalem. Thus, when Jesus saw people using it for business, He drove them out. Then John commented,

Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up” (John 2.17). 

Why did Jesus drive out the merchants from the temple? Why did Jesus do everything that He did? He had an all-consuming zeal for anything connected to the Father in heaven.
