To read the Bible in a year, read John 18.24–40 on June 10, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
The Jewish leaders concluded that Jesus was worthy of death, but the Romans would not allow them to carry out the death penalty. Therefore, the Jewish leaders brought Jesus to the Romans that they might execute Him.
Once Jesus was in the presence of the Roman governor, the governor asked Jesus whether He was the king of the Jews. Jesus wanted to know why the governor asked that question,
Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?” (John 18.35).
What had Jesus done? He certainly had not done anything worthy of death, but He had taught the word of God and done the works of God.
Could I be accused of teaching the word of God and doing the works of God? If not, what am I doing?
