When the Lord keeps asking you

John Bible Background

06.14.2015 New Testament: John 21.16

To read the Bible in a year, read John 21 on June 14, In the year of our Lord 2015

By Don Ruhl

Jesus had asked Peter whether he loved Him. Peter affirmed that he did. However, the Lord wanted to hear more,

He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep” (John 21.16).

Why did the Lord only ask Peter? What about the other apostles? Was Jesus giving Peter the chance to redeem himself after having denied knowing the Lord three times? Why did Jesus ask Peter a second time?

Why does the Lord keep putting you through the same trials over again? What does He want to see from you?
