07.01.2015 New Testament: Acts 10.10–12
To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 10.1–23 on July 1, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
We know that God works in our lives everyday, but sometimes when He readies us for a special work, He does interesting things. Look at what He did with Peter,
Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air (Acts 10.10–12).
Peter hungered. So what did the Lord do? Showed the apostle food. Yet, it was food that Peter had never eaten and at that point in time, he had the intention of never eating. However, the Lord persuaded Peter that he should not object to what the Lord has now opened to him as a Jew.
Then after this, the Lord showed Peter that the same thing applied to his receptivity to people other than Jews. Finally, Peter started preaching to the Gentiles.
Likewise, we need to know that everyone is subject to the Gospel call, and that means we should receive all whom the Lord receives for salvation.
