Nations have come and gone. People’s have appeared on the Earth, only to perish later. However, the Lord continues from generation to generation, even as He has from the beginning and He shall be here in the end. Moreover, He hears those oppressed and they continue also,

The Lord is King forever and ever;
The nations have perished out of His land.
Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble;
You will prepare their heart;
You will cause Your ear to hear,
To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
That the man of the earth may oppress no more.
(Psalm 10.16–18) 

Nations fall when they oppress, but when the oppressed cry out to the Lord, He hears their cries, and brings the oppressors down. As long as the oppress cry out to Him, they themselves shall continue.
