Rumors had spread about Paul that he was against the Law of Moses, which was not true, and since he wanted to be all things to all men, including to the Jew, he became as a Jew, and that meant he complied with their customs. Therefore, he took a vow and went to the temple in Jerusalem,

Then Paul took the men, and the next day, having been purified with them, entered the temple to announce the expiration of the days of purification, at which time an offering should be made for each one of them (Acts 21.26). 

Sometimes we act very contrary to our cultures, but we should strive to conform as much as we can without violating God’s word. By making ourselves all things to all men, we just might save a few.
