07.25.2015 Old Testament: Psa 44.20–22
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 44–46 on July 25, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
What happens when we suffer? Do we forget to call upon the Lord? Do we curse Him? What do we do? As it is written,
If we had forgotten the name of our God,
Or stretched out our hands to a foreign god,
Would not God search this out?
For He knows the secrets of the heart.
Yet for Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
(Psalm 44.20–22)
If we forget our God, or if we turn to an idol, our God will find out about it, because He knows all about us, even the secrets we keep in our hearts. No, rather than forgetting Him or turning to a foreign god, we deny ourselves daily, dying to our wishes and desires that we might please Him.
