Ours is not the first generation to watch evil increase and gain victory after victory. The psalmist would know just how we think of the increase of evil today,

O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongs—
O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!
Rise up, O Judge of the earth;
Render punishment to the proud.
Lord, how long will the wicked,
How long will the wicked triumph?
(Psalm 94.1–3) 

We know vengeance belongs to the Lord, and we should not take out personal vengeance, so we call on Him, as the Judge of the Earth, to shine forth and punish the proud. He will do it in time. Just remain faithful to Him now.
