Sometimes the congregation of Christ looks the other way when sexual immorality raises its head even among the Lord’s people. However, the Holy Spirit showed through Paul that this is a major problem,
It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles—that a man has his father’s wife! And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you (1 Corinthians 5.1–2).
A man in the congregation in Corinth married a woman who belonged to another man, the Christian’s father! The Corinthian Christians were even proud of themselves for their open-mindedness, but Paul rebuked them for it. He went on to explain the actions the brethren were to take against this brother.
