Love moved him

2 Corinthians Bible Background

To read the Bible in a year, read Second Corinthians 11.1–15 on September 19, In the year of our Lord 2015

Paul did not allow himself to be a burden to anyone in Achaia, and so he decided not to take wages from the churches, such as Corinth, in that region.

Why? Because I do not love you? God knows! But what I do, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things of which they boast (2 Corinthians 11.11–12).

It was not as though he did not love them. Truly, in all that Paul and the other apostles did, love moved them to do what was best for the churches that they established.
