Why does the church exist on the Earth? The church consists of all those whom the Lord has saved. Why does He not just take us all to heaven right now? Paul shows the Lord’s purpose for leaving us here,

…to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places… (Ephesians 3.9–10). 

The world needs to see the many parts of the wisdom of God, and He, in that wonderful wisdom, has decided that He wants us to cause our fellow-man to see His wisdom.
