There is no rest when the Lord destroys

Isaiah Bible Background

10.01.2015 Old Testament: Isa 23.10–12

To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 22–23 on October 1, In the year of our Lord 2015

By Don Ruhl

As the Lord spoke to Tyre and Sidon of the doom that He would bring upon them, He showed that regardless of where they went to escape, they would have no rest,

Overflow through your land like the River,
O daughter of Tarshish;
There is no more strength.
He stretched out His hand over the sea,
He shook the kingdoms;
The Lord has given a commandment against Canaan
To destroy its strongholds.
And He said, “You will rejoice no more,
O you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon.
Arise, cross over to Cyprus;
There also you will have no rest.”
(Isaiah 23.10–12)

You can do whatever you want, but when the Lord gives the order for a place to be destroyed, that land cannot do anything to avoid the destruction. It is better to repent of all sin, and then the Lord will spare people.
