The world will see that the Lord reigns over all

Isaiah Bible Background

10.02.2015 Old Testament: Isa 24.21–23

To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 24–26 on October 2, In the year of our Lord 2015

Some in power think highly of themselves, believing they rule over all and that their destiny lies within their own hands, and that the Lord of the Bible has nothing to do with their power whatsoever. However, He declares,

It shall come to pass in that day
That the Lord will punish on high the host of exalted ones,
And on the earth the kings of the earth.
They will be gathered together,
As prisoners are gathered in the pit,
And will be shut up in the prison;
After many days they will be punished.
Then the moon will be disgraced
And the sun ashamed;
For the Lord of hosts will reign
On Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
And before His elders, gloriously.
(Isaiah 24.21–23)

Whatever exists on this Earth, the Lord allows it for the sake of His people, whether the children of Israel in ancient times, or the congregation of Christ today. As Paul wrote,

And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church… (Ephesians 1.22).
