When the Lord goes against His enemies

Isaiah Bible Background

10.17.2015 Old Testament: Isa 63.5–6

To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 62–64 on October 17, In the year of our Lord 2015

By Don Ruhl

The Lord returned from Edom, having destroyed the nation. Someone asked Him why His garments were red. He explained that He had trodden Edom in a winepress. He had looked to see whether anyone would save Edom, but He found no one. Therefore, He carried out His vengeance,

“I looked, but there was no one to help,
And I wondered
That there was no one to uphold;
Therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me;
And My own fury, it sustained Me.
I have trodden down the peoples in My anger,
Made them drunk in My fury,
And brought down their strength to the earth.”
(Isaiah 63.5–6)

Watch out when the Lord has to carry out His vengeance. Far better it is, to repent and praise Him!
