10.19.2015 Old Testament: Jer 2.1–3
To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 1–2 on October 19, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
Jeremiah preached bold and powerful words against Judah, but those words came from the Lord Himself, who loved His people deeply,
Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Go and cry in the hearing of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord:
“I remember you,
The kindness of your youth,
The love of your betrothal,
When you went after Me in the wilderness,
In a land not sown.
Israel was holiness to the Lord,
The firstfruits of His increase.
All that devour him will offend;
Disaster will come upon them,”
says the Lord.”’”
(Jeremiah 2.1–3)
When the Lord first called Israel out into the wilderness, they followed Him and they sought Him. He remembered that time. He also promised to strike anyone who harmed Judah. Yet, later the nation forgot the Lord, as many people, nations, and churches do today. Turn to Him and He will accept you fully.
