The Lord had Jeremiah write a letter to the Jews who had already gone into Babylonian captivity. In that letter, the Lord told them why they needed to listen to Him,

“Therefore hear the word of the Lord, all you of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon” (Jeremiah 29.20). 

The Lord sent them into captivity for not listening to Him, and in captivity, they still needed to listen to Him. He had control of them and their destiny.

Does that not also hold true with every nation, person, and church on this planet today? Yes, therefore, let us all hear the word of the Lord, lest we suffer as the Jews did.
