On the current Earth, righteousness has competition, but the Lord promises that He will create a new place where this will not happen,

Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells (2 Peter 3.13). 

Righteousness dwells here now, but we often fall prey to temptation and we do what is not righteous. Imagine a place where that does not happen, but truly righteousness dwells there.
