After showing us the evil of Diotrephes, and we do not need any more of his kind, John then showed us Demetrius,

Demetrius has a good testimony from all, and from the truth itself. And we also bear witness, and you know that our testimony is true (3 John 12). 

People loved Demetrius and so they had good things to say about him, and the truth of the Scriptures also spoke of him in a good way, because he modeled what a disciple of Christ should be. John and those with him, added to the good testimony of Demetrius.

May the Lord grant to the church more men like Demetrius.
