12.19.2015 New Testament: Rev 10.2–4
To read the Bible in a year, read Revelation 10 on December 19, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
John saw a magnificent angel holding a book in his hand, and the angel cried out, and the seven thunders responded,
He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices. Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them” (Revelation 10.2–4).
The Book of Revelation starts out with the Lord Jesus instructing John to write down the things that he would see and hear. Therefore, he heard the seven thunders utter something, and he went to write down their words that we might have them, even as we do the rest of the words of the Book of Revelation, but then someone from heaven instructed John not to write those things down.
What did John hear? Why could he hear them, but we cannot? This reminds us of Paul’s experience when he heard words that are not lawful for a man to utter (See Second Corinthians 12).
The Book of Revelation reveals things that we could never discover on our own, but the Lord wants us to know that He did not reveal everything. However, He revealed enough to let us know that He is in control. We do not have to fear or worry. Let us then, trust Him with our whole hearts.
