12.02.2015 Old Testament: Mic 5.3–5a
To read the Bible in a year, read Micah 4–5 on December 20, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
Most of us know Micah 5.2 that prophesies of the location of the birth of the Messiah, that it would be Bethlehem, but the Messiah would not be born there to give us two weeks off school, and a reason to shop, but the next verses explain of why He came,
Therefore He shall give them up,
Until the time that she who is in labor has given birth;
Then the remnant of His brethren
Shall return to the children of Israel.
And He shall stand and feed His flock
In the strength of the Lord,
In the majesty of the name of the Lord His God;
And they shall abide,
For now He shall be great
To the ends of the earth;
And this One shall be peace.
(Micah 5.3–5a)
He came to feed His flock and to be the peace of the world. However, that peace begins in your heart, in your life, for how can we expect others to live in peace, if we do not. We have peace by following the Shepherd born over 1900 years ago in Bethlehem.
