The dragon, representing Satan, does everything he can to defeat the church and to tear her to pieces, but he never wins. Therefore, he often resorts to destroying individual Christians,

And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ (Revelation 12.17). 

Know that you have a ferocious beast after you, but also know that by keeping the commandments of God and possessing the testimony of Jesus Christ, you shall defeat the dragon.
