12.24.2015 Old Testament: Zep 2.1–3
To read the Bible in a year, read The Book of Zephaniah on December 24, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
The Lord let nations know when He was about to pour out His wrath, but often in the Scriptures you will find that He then follows those words with hope, as He did through Zephaniah,
Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together,
O undesirable nation,
Before the decree is issued,
Or the day passes like chaff,
Before the Lord’s fierce anger comes upon you,
Before the day of the Lord’s anger comes upon you!
Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth,
Who have upheld His justice.
Seek righteousness, seek humility.
It may be that you will be hidden
In the day of the Lord’s anger.
(Zephaniah 2.1–3)
It sounds as though the fate of Judah had already been sealed, but the Lord held out hope for the humble among His people, that if they sought Him, He would spare them in the day of anger.
Therefore, right now seek the Lord with all your heart and He will carry you through whatever He brings upon the Earth.
