12.30.2015 New Testament: Rev 21.15–17
To read the Bible in a year, read Revelation 21 on December 30, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
An angel showed John a city that descended out of heaven. John identified the city as the wife of the Lamb, which means the city is the church, shown in a glorified state. The angel then did some measuring,
And he who talked with me had a gold reed to measure the city, its gates, and its wall. The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth, and height are equal. Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel (Revelation 21.15–17).
We can get technical and try to figure out the size of the three-dimensional city, and we can get caught up in those measurements, but I believe the point is that the Lord wanted this angel to show John that he might show us the awesome size of this city, that it can hold everyone who goes to heaven.
Do not worry whether there will be room enough for you, for the Lord has made plenty of room for all of us who seek that heavenly country.
