12.30.2015 Old Testament: Zec 14.6–7
To read the Bible in a year, read Zechariah 13–14 on December 30, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
The Day of the Lord does not always mean the Second Coming of the Lord, but it does mean His encounter with man in some way. It might have been judgment upon a nation. Sometimes it does refer to the Second Coming, but it could also refer to the time that he lived on the Earth, which seems to be the meaning of Zechariah 14. Of the day of His arrival, the prophet said,
It shall come to pass in that day
That there will be no light;
The lights will diminish.
It shall be one day
Which is known to the Lord—
Neither day nor night.
But at evening time it shall happen
That it will be light.
(Zechariah 14.6–7)
The Lord holds everyday in His hand. He knows what shall happen on any given day, especially when He Himself would arrive on Earth and live here for 33 years, and then what would happen on the day that men brutalized Him to death.
Never fear, therefore, the Lord is in charge, although you may think He is not, but He even as He had charge of the day of His crucifixion, so He holds today in His hand.
