12.31.2015 Old Testament: Mal 2.3–6
To read the Bible in a year, read Malachi on December 31, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
The Lord did not make the tribe of Levi the priestly tribe because He did not know what else to do with them; no, He set them aside to do something very important for both their sakes and for that of Israel. Therefore, when they failed to do their job, the Lord rebuked them severely. Notice the language in the following text,
“Behold, I will rebuke your descendants
And spread refuse on your faces,
The refuse of your solemn feasts;
And one will take you away with it.
Then you shall know that I have sent this commandment to you,
That My covenant with Levi may continue,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
“My covenant was with him, one of life and peace,
And I gave them to him that he might fear Me;
So he feared Me
And was reverent before My name.
The law of truth was in his mouth,
And injustice was not found on his lips.
He walked with Me in peace and equity,
And turned many away from iniquity.”
(Malachi 2.3–6)
Likewise, Christians serve as priests on the Earth, and it is our job to intercede for the Earth, which is why we are the salt of the Earth, and why the Lord told us to pray for our government and so on. Let us not fail at our job, or the Lord will rebuke us.
