We do not know the size of the population before the Flood, but whatever that number was, God removed them all from the Earth, leaving only Noah and his wife, and their three sons and their wives. From them God has repopulated the Earth,

Now this is the genealogy of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. And sons were born to them after the flood (Genesis 10.1). 

The process took awhile, but we have now, they say, seven billion people on the Earth, all from Noah and his wife!

The Lord can take a few or something small and do magnificent things. If you are insignificant, or if you think that you cannot accomplish much, place yourself in the hands of God, as Noah did, and see what happens.
