People cannot make up their minds on whether it is good or bad to be rich. However, the Bible shows that we can be rich, but more importantly, we need to be rich in faith,

Then Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, to the South. Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. And he went on his journey from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, to the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there Abram called on the name of the Lord (Genesis 13.1–4).

The Lord put riches in the life of Abram and so Abram put faith in the Lord. If you have riches, but you do not have faith in the Lord, you have nothing. If you have nothing, but you have faith in the Lord, you have everything. If you have riches and if you have faith, you have the best of both worlds and so you can have your cake and eat it too.
