It is hard to imagine that a so-called civilization could be as cruel as the Egyptians, but listen to what the word of God says,

So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son who is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive” (Exodus 1.22). 

The word of God says it happened, therefore, it happened. Yet, such hard-heartedness still causes us to go into shock that such a thing could ever happen.

When people stray from the word of God, they will do the unimaginable.
