01.26.2016 Old Testament: Exo 12.7
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 11–12 on January 26, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
In preparation for the last plague upon Egypt, the Lord instructed Israel on what to do to avoid the ravages of the Destroyer who would go through Egypt, taking the life of the firstborn in every family, except the Destroyer would passover the homes where the Israelites had done this,
And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it (Exodus 12.7).
When they left their homes, the blood would be above them and to their sides, even as when they passed through the Red Sea and they were baptized into Moses (1 Corinthians 10). The imagery of baptizing into blood, or the death of the lamb prefigured the Lamb of God whose blood would save us, if we are baptized into His death, as Paul also taught (Romans 6).
Don, I find your observation fascinating. I never looked it the way you presented it in your comments for today, but the parallel with 1 Cor 10, for me, is inescapable. Great point, brother.

I was once heard James Watkins use the analogy (with the passage in mind that you referred to) that the blood was on the door (and Jesus is the door – John 10:9), and that one still has to be in the house (which is the church – 1 Timothy 3:15) to be saved from judgment (Ephesians 5:23). That thought has stuck with me since I first heard it.
