Should new Christians receive the same amount of reward as those who have been in the faith a long time?

Matthew Bible Background

To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 20.1–16 on January 29, In the year of our Lord 2016

Jesus gave a parable that illustrated how things are in the Kingdom of Heaven. A landowner hired workers at different times of the day,

“Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, and said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So they went. Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day?’ They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive’” (Matthew 20.2–7).

Not everyone serves as a Christian as long as the next guy, and sometimes Christians serve for a very long time. Should the Lord reward them the same? If you continue reading, you will discover that the Lord does that very thing. Also, how long have the Jews been children of God in comparison to the Gentiles. Yet, the Lord treats them all the same. Rather than complain, we should just praise the Lord that He includes us.
