02.20.2016 Old Testament: Num 3.23–26
To read the Bible in a year, read Numbers 3–4 on February 20, In the year of our Lord 2016

One of the sons of Levi was Gershon and his descendants had specific duties concerning the tabernacle. They could not do everything, nor did the Lord expect them to, for others had their parts, but He did expect them to do what He had assigned to them, knowing that they could do it,
“The families of the Gershonites were to camp behind the tabernacle westward. And the leader of the father’s house of the Gershonites was Eliasaph the son of Lael. The duties of the children of Gershon in the tabernacle of meeting included the tabernacle, the tent with its covering, the screen for the door of the tabernacle of meeting, the screen for the door of the court, the hangings of the court which are around the tabernacle and the altar, and their cords, according to all the work relating to them” (Numbers 3.23–26).
Did any of them ever think that because they could not do what someone from one of the other sons of Levi could do, that they did not have a significant job? I do not know, but I do know that people often think that way. Just do your part, knowing that the Lord has assigned others to their part, and if they do not do it, He will hold them accountable, just as He will you, if you do not complete your part.
