03.06.2016 Old Testament: Deu 1.26–27
To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 1–2 on March 6, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
The children of Israel approached Moses, asking him to send spies into the Land of Canaan, but when the spies returned, ten of the 12 gave a discouraging report, and the whole congregation believed the ten. Moses reminded them,
“Nevertheless you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of the LORD your God; and you complained in your tents, and said, ‘Because the LORD hates us, He has brought us out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us’” (Deuteronomy 1.26–27).
They thought God delivered them from Egypt because He hated them, but we know He delivered them because He loved them! They had it backwards.
Questions:
- Do you blame God for your troubles, believing that He has something against you?
- Did you learn later that the problem did not center in God?
- What was the source of the problem?
